![]() ![]() I had no reason to be nervous because 24 out of 25 children came up for the right color (happy librarian dance)!!! I did have to ask children and parents to sit back down after they were done because they all wanted to stay at the board. Because of this I was nervous to have a flannel board where children actually came up to the board. I preface flannel boards by asking parents to gently discourage their child from playing with the pieces unless I specifically ask but that doesn’t seem to be happening. Children were coming up to the board, pulling things down and playing with the pieces. I’ve had some issues with flannel boards recently. How it Went: “Hooray for Hat” was so much fun to read aloud! Children (and parents) loved yelling hooray. (repeat with other colors) Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes Concepts related to the themes will be showcased in other books, songs, and flannel stories. ![]() To take it a step further, I couched these stories within three larger themes. I’ve looked up high and I’ve looked down low Hooray for Hat by Brian Won Each story will get three weeks of sharing once as the book, once as a felt, and once as a puppet version. When I said their called and held up the corresponding hat the children would bring it to the board.
